Funding review into voluntary groups

1:50pm Saturday 20th March 2010

A FUNDING review for all voluntary sector groups run by Thurrock Council is set to take place.

Cllr Joy Redsell, cabinet member for Communities, Culture and Leisure Services said at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday that the review “should have been done a long time ago.”

The Tory cabinet was in agreement the internal review was needed.

Deputy leader of the council Amanda Arnold said: “I welcome this report, what the council has started to do with the services is to shift to an outcome perspective.

“We know things are not looking good financially. We need to make sure that the council tax payer makes value for money for all these groups- that should be the core of this review. This should be done in a timely fashion and brought back to cabinet as soon as possible.”

The results of the review are set to come back to cabinet in July.
